What’s your best parenting tip?
I’ve been a Mom for 19 years and I’ve learned that over time, taking care of myself is extremely important. While everyone has their own idea of self care, when I get a good night’s sleep, eat healthy, take long walks outside, meditate, meet with friends, or have some alone time, I am a better mother to my children. When I do those things I feel more fulfilled and centered and my children sense that.
What’s your favorite dish to cook for your postpartum clients?
Cooking and photographing food is my favorite hobby. My family, friends, and clients are pretty happy about that! Narrowing it down to my favorite dish is hard; it depends on if my client is in the mood for a healthy meal or feels like indulging in comfort food. Quinoa with chicken, arugula, avocado, shaved parmesan, EVOO, and seasonings are a favorite for a healthy dish. As far as comfort food, I love to make Pasta with Sausage or Bolognese. Soups are another crowd-pleaser for clients, especially since I can make it ahead of time and bring it to their home. My Chicken Meatball Italian Wedding soup is delicious! Cooking is a creative outlet for me and feels like a type of therapy.
Whose music do you have on repeat right now?
Music is a huge part of my life. I grew up with a Dad who played the guitar and piano, and always had Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, or Crosby, Stills & Nash playing. I am grateful I was exposed to music and it’s led me to appreciate many genres, even the music my teen boys listen to! Lately I’ve been listening to Kacey Musgraves and Neil Young’s 1974 On The Beach album. I believe music can set the tone for a nice day.
Where’s your hometown?
I grew up in Chesterland, Ohio, about forty minutes east of Cleveland. I have lived in Arizona and California, and I’m currently in Chagrin Falls where I’ve been for the past 9 years. Chagrin Falls is a very special place to live; it’s really cute, has great restaurants, coffee shops, and the famous Popcorn Shop. The falls are especially beautiful, and I appreciate that it’s been a nice, safe place to raise my three kids.
