What do you enjoy most about birth and postpartum work?
I really enjoy watching my clients become more confident during their birth and while adjusting to life with a newborn. I love fitting in with their family and offering my support in any way that is needed. Watching couples grow closer while supporting one another and the love that surrounds them during this process.
Where’s your hometown?
I live in Medina, Ohio. It’s a beautiful historic town just south of Cleveland. I’ve been here in town for 20 years and grew up in Medina County. My little house was built in 1870 and used to be on the main road but was literally rolled over on logs to the side street where it’s been since the 50’s.
What’s your favorite thing to do in CLE?
We like to go check out and eat at the great places in the area and visit our favorites like the Greater Cleveland Aquarium, Rocky River Reservation (for walking, kayaking and people watching at the boat ramp), Sunday Brunch at Alley Cat Oyster Bar in the Flats, Town Hall in Ohio City, Mabel’s BBQ on E. 4th. We like great food and we like to eat, so trying out all the local eats is always fun!
What’s your favorite dish to cook for your postpartum clients?
I love throwing together a really delicious and healthy salad using greens, fruit, and nuts with balsamic vinaigrette, chicken noodle soup, sautéed or roasted veggies with goat cheese and arugula stuffed chicken, and I make a killer mac-n-cheese for when you are craving some comfort food.
What’s your best parenting tip?
Follow your instincts and don’t let other people’s opinions on what you should or should not do sway your decisions. And invest in a yoga ball, it’s the cheapest most useful baby soothing tool!
